The Red Ribbon Campaign started in 1985 when drug traffickers in Mexico City murdered DEA agent Kiki Camarena. This incident started the wearing of red ribbons to signify the wearers’ intolerance toward drugs.

The mission of the Red Ribbon Week Campaign is to create a visible highly noticeable and unified commitment towards a drug-free America.
